Pillar · 5 min
Features
Surface quality — skin, under-eye, brows, sclera, eyelids. The pillar that moves fastest, and the one worth acting on first.
Harmony is about where your bones are. Features is about the surface stretched over them — and unlike the rest of your score, most of it is genuinely, quickly changeable.
That makes it the highest-return pillar for almost everyone, and the reason the Protocol tends to lead with it.

Why this is where to start
Three reasons, and none of them is that it is easy.
It responds. Skin, under-eye and hair all move on a scale of weeks to months with routines that are cheap, reversible and well-evidenced. Nothing else in your score does.
It is read first by people. Surface quality is what someone registers before they have processed a single proportion.
It is honest about being fixable. When Features is your weakest pillar, the answer is a routine, not a surgeon.
Symmetry, specifically
Symmetry is capped deliberately low. Two reasons.
Real human faces are asymmetric — every one of them — and the research on how much observers actually penalise it is far weaker than the internet assumes. And it is the measurement most easily faked by a bad photo: a head turned five degrees produces asymmetry you do not have, on a face that is perfectly ordinary.
If your symmetry read surprises you, check your head position before you conclude anything.
