Biotin for Hair/Skin
Only helps the rare true deficiency; for everyone else it just distorts lab tests.
Also called: biotin · vitamin b7 · hair skin nails
Verdict — cope
The mechanism does not hold. Your time is better spent elsewhere.
Evidence grade D
Nobody has demonstrated this works. Note that this grades the evidence, not the danger — read the verdict for that.
Mechanism
Cofactor for carboxylases; supraphysiological doses have no demonstrated effect on hair growth in non-deficient individuals.

Biotin deficiency is genuinely rare outside specific conditions. Trials in healthy adults show no hair benefit, and megadoses interfere with troponin and thyroid lab assays — a real clinical hazard. The 'hair, skin & nails' aisle is riding one micronutrient's halo.
