Beard Dermarolling
The evidence is for microneedling plus minoxidil on the scalp, extrapolated to the face. Plausible, undertested, and easy to overdo on facial skin.
Also called: beard roller · beard microneedling · derma roller beard
Verdict — mixed
Real in part — the claim outruns what it actually does.
Evidence grade C
Mechanistic plausibility, small studies, or observational data. Suggestive, not established.
Mechanism
Micro-injury upregulates wound-healing growth factors and increases transdermal penetration of topical minoxidil — the combination, not the needling alone, carries the scalp evidence.

The scalp trial behind this is strong: microneedling plus minoxidil substantially outperformed minoxidil alone. Applying it to the beard is reasonable extrapolation, not established fact, and facial skin is thinner and more reactive than scalp. Practical rules matter here: 0.5–1.0 mm, once a week at most, never with minoxidil applied the same day (occluding an irritant into fresh channels is how people get chemical burns), and a sterilised or disposable roller. Expect months. See `beard-minoxidil` for the base treatment this is meant to amplify.
