What Actually Makes a Face Attractive

Beyond "you either have it or you don't"

Attractiveness research converges on a small set of measurable drivers: averageness (closeness to the population mean shape), symmetry, sexual dimorphism (how strongly sex-typical your features are), skin quality, and youthfulness cues. Every viral "canthal tilt" or "philtrum ratio" discussion is a fragment of one of these five.

Two implications matter for you:

  1. Most drivers are partially trainable. Skin quality is highly controllable. Adiposity (which affects apparent averageness and dimorphism) is fully controllable. Even perceived symmetry improves with grooming and leanness.
  2. The weights differ by observer and context — but the top of the distribution on ANY weighting is lean, well-groomed, well-slept, and clear-skinned. The fundamentals are never wasted.

Mavqen's five pillars — Harmony, Dimorphism, Angularity, Features, Physiognomy — are our decomposition of these research drivers into actionable, measurable buckets. The rest of this course teaches you to work each one.
