DIY Teeth Filing (Nail File)
Enamel does not regenerate. Every millimetre removed is permanent, and the usual result is sensitivity, exposed dentine and decay.

Verdict — cope
The mechanism does not hold. Your time is better spent elsewhere.
Evidence grade D
Nobody has demonstrated this works. Note that this grades the evidence, not the danger — read the verdict for that.
Mechanism
Enamel is acellular and has no capacity for biological repair. Removing it exposes dentinal tubules connected to the pulp, producing sensitivity and a direct route for bacterial ingress.

The full read
Professional enameloplasty exists — a dentist reshapes tenths of a millimetre, under magnification, knowing the enamel thickness at that point from radiographs. A nail file has none of that, and the reported outcomes are dentine exposure, irreversible sensitivity to cold, pulpitis, decay at the roughened surface and teeth that then need crowns. There is no upside case: a dentist will do the same reshaping safely and cheaply. This is the dental equivalent of `bonesmashing` — a real clinical technique, performed without the one thing that makes it safe.
