Face Taping for Wrinkles
Prevents the repeated creasing that etches expression lines, which is a coherent mechanism. There is no trial evidence, and it does nothing to existing lines.
Also called: frownies · wrinkle tape · sleep tape face
Verdict — mixed
Real in part — the claim outruns what it actually does.
Evidence grade D
Nobody has demonstrated this works. Note that this grades the evidence, not the danger — read the verdict for that.
Mechanism
Physically restricts the muscle movement that folds skin at the same site repeatedly — a purely mechanical, low-grade analogue of what botulinum toxin achieves pharmacologically.

The premise is the same one that makes Botox work as prevention: dynamic lines become static lines through repetition, so blocking the repetition should slow the etching. Tape is a weak, intermittent version of that, applied for eight hours while the lines you actually make happen during the day. No controlled study has tested it. It is cheap and essentially harmless apart from adhesive irritation and the odd folliculitis. Reasonable as a curiosity; the evidenced versions of the same idea are `botox-upper-face` and, for existing texture, a retinoid.
