Hydrocolloid Pimple Patches
Borrowed straight from wound care and they work for what they claim: absorb exudate, keep the lesion moist, and physically stop you picking.
Also called: acne patch · hydrocolloid dot · spot sticker
Verdict — legit
Does what it claims, with evidence behind it.
Evidence grade B
At least one good randomised trial, or consistent findings across controlled studies.
Mechanism
Hydrocolloid gels absorb wound exudate and maintain a moist healing environment, which accelerates re-epithelialisation and reduces scab formation.

The full read
The moist-wound-healing literature is decades old and solid, and a patch on an open or extracted lesion is that literature applied to a spot. The second mechanism matters just as much and is rarely named: it is a physical barrier against picking, and picking is what converts a two-day papule into a three-month mark. They do nothing for closed comedones or deep cystic lesions — there is no exudate to absorb and nothing to occlude. The medicated versions add salicylic acid or hydrocolloid microneedles with much thinner evidence; the plain ones are the ones that work.
