PRP Microneedling ('Vampire Facial')
Adds a modest, inconsistent increment over microneedling alone, at several times the price — and has a documented HIV transmission cluster from an unlicensed clinic.
Also called: vampire facial · prp face · platelet rich plasma facial
Verdict — mixed
Real in part — the claim outruns what it actually does.
Evidence grade C
Mechanistic plausibility, small studies, or observational data. Suggestive, not established.
Mechanism
Centrifuged autologous platelet concentrate releases PDGF, TGF-β and VEGF into the micro-channels, theoretically amplifying the wound-healing response.

The full read
Split-face studies comparing microneedling plus PRP against microneedling alone tend to favour PRP by a small margin, but preparation protocols vary so much between clinics that results do not transfer between studies. The honest summary: it is microneedling, plus a bit, for a lot. What raises it from 'overpriced' to 'check the clinic' is the New Mexico cluster in which three clients contracted HIV from an unlicensed spa reusing equipment — blood handling has infection-control requirements that a beauty setting is not automatically built for. If you want this, get it where blood is drawn under medical licensing.
